Flora Hon started dancing when she was nine. Hon graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Major in Modern Dance. In 2003, Hon was awarded the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund to further her study and gained her BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) at SUNY Purchase College, New York. During those years in New York, besides her college study, Hon also danced for High Frequency Wavelengths Dance Company Production (Director: Marilynn Danitz) and Noemie Lafrance of Sens Production, along with many other dance companies and choreographers in New York.
Moving back to Hong Kong after graduation in 2008, Hon formed a dance group “Off the Ground” alongside Kelvin Lam and Jo Leung. The dance group then received the funding from Hong Kong Arts Development Council in the next year to produce their first full- length performance ‘Core Side Out’. In 2010 ‘Off the Ground’ was invited by Leisure and Cultural Services Department to participate in ‘New Force in Motion Series’, choreography name ‘Eternity is?’ In 2013, Hon was once again invited by Leisure and Cultural Services Department for choreographing a new dance production ‘Dig a dig’. In July 2014, Hon presented her brand new site-specific dance performance ‘In your shoes’ at Studiodanz Kowloon.
In Jan 2016, Hon was invited by Leisure and Cultural Services Department to present her new work ‘Puzzle’ alongside with Kelvin Lam. The same year in 2016, ‘Puzzle’ was invited to perform in Beijing and Guangzhou.
In May 2011, Hon became the Director of Studiodanz —one of the renowned dance studios in Hong Kong.
As a choreographer, her choreography ‘People help the people’ has awarded the 2nd runner up in the jazz/contemporary category in the Hong Kong Best Dance Crew 2012. Prior to that, she also choreographed for Jade Kwan Music Video ‘空心人’, Rubberband Music Video ‘放’ and ‘You and me’, Tung Wah Groups of Hospital 146th Anniversary Performance, Nike ‘Kobe Bryant Hong Kong Tour 2009’, ‘The Hong Kong Chinese News Year Parade’, ‘Studiodanz Showcase 2007-2010, 2013-2018’, ‘The Door’, ‘Endlessness’ and etc.
As a versatile dancer, Hon is also being very active on the performance scene. Her recent projects includes, ‘Jacky Cheung A Classic Tour 2017-2019’ ‘Missing Kay Concert’ ‘Best Wishes to you Jody’s concert’ in Taiwan, ‘Jacky Cheung ½ Century World Tour Concert’ where she played the main role in the Musical part of the concert, ‘Raymond Lam Let’s get wet Concert’, “Shirley Kwan Unexpected Concert’, ‘Leslie Cheung Miss you much Concert’, ‘Love Sick’ by Ong Yong Lock, ‘Whatever’ by Ong Yong Lock, ‘RJ Dairy’ by Wai Mei Yeung and Ong Yong Lock, ‘Whispers of Love’ by Ong Yong Lock, IDEA Festival ‘Face to Face’ by Pewan Chow, ‘The Opening Ceremony of the 15th Asian Game’ in Doha and etc… Hon was also the resident artist of Unlock Dancing Plaza.
Now Hon is currently a Contemporary dance instructor, performer and choreographer.
In 2014, Hon has finished studying her Aromatherapy Diploma Program and officially become an Aroma therapist. To extend her experience as an Aroma therapist, she becomes the member of the ‘High Touch Aromatherapy Volunteer Team’, found by Rosita Ho. And also Hon has worked with Rosita Ho as her assistant in Haven of Hope.
